Football Game Preview: Melrose Golden Wildcats vs. Bolivar Central Tigers + Official Tickets

The Melrose Golden Wildcats will challenge the Bolivar Central Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Melrose is coming into the contest hot, having won their last eight games.

Bolivar Central's offense is going to have their work cut out for them on Friday: Melrose hadn't allowed a single point the last six times they've hit the field. The Golden Wildcats took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 64-0 victory over Memphis East. Considering the Golden Wildcats have won six matchups by more than 39 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Melrose got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Thomas Heffner out in front who threw for 262 yards and six touchdowns while completing 84.6% of his passes, and also rushed for 49 yards and one TD. Thanks to that big game, Heffner is now up to 28 passing touchdowns on the season. Melrose's leading receiver Carlos Edwards was Heffner's top target yet again, picking up 79 receiving yards and four scores.

Meanwhile, Bolivar Central slipped by Obion County 7-6 on Friday.

The victory got Bolivar Central back to even at 5-5. As for Melrose, their win bumped their record up to 8-1.

Melrose strolled past Bolivar Central when the teams last played back in October of 2016 by a score of 53-38. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Tigers' Drek Lewis, who rushed for 238 yards and three TDs while picking up 8.5 yards per carry. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Golden Wildcats to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
