Baseball Recap: Alcoa Continues Home Dominance on Wednesday

While Alcoa's win against Oneida wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Tornadoes narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Indians 5-3. The win continues a trend for the Tornadoes in their matchups with the Indians: they've now won six in a row.

Aden Orrick and Bleau Kennedy made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Orrick pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Kennedy struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Orrick scored a run and stole a base, while Kennedy scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Miles Watson, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Myles Cox was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base.

Alcoa hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oneida struck out nine times.

Alcoa's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-3. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 6.8 runs. As for Oneida, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Alcoa will host Roane County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Yellowjackets will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Tornadoes surely won't give up without a fight. As for Oneida, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Harriman at 6:00 p.m.
