Recap: Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] Bobcats vs. Stanton Mustangs
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 60-30, which was the final score in Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard]'s's tilt against Stanton on Friday. While losing is never fun, Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska football rankings (they are ranked 27th, while Stanton is ranked second).
Several Bobcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sam Cheatum, who picked up 128 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Michael Koenig, who threw for 214 yards and three touchdowns while completing 76% of his passes.
Leading Stanton to victory were Barrett Wilke and Becker Pohlman. Wilke rushed for 147 yards and two touchdowns, while Pohlman rushed for 251 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.0 yards per carry. Wilke is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last six games he's played. Mitchell Hupp was in the mix as well, providing Stanton with two touchdowns.
Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard]'s defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Stanton, their win was their tenth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 10-0.
Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Stanton will face off against Arapahoe at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Arapahoe will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
