Morse took a nine-run loss the last time they faced off against Freeport, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Shipbuilders narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Falcons 4-3. This was payback for the Shipbuilders, who suffered a 13-4 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Oscar Nelson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jackson Murray, who went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Caden Wells, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.

The victory made it two in a row for Morse and bumps their season record up to 2-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Freeport, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Morse will challenge Lincoln Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Shipbuilders are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Freeport, they will take on Greely at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
