Softball Recap: Strawberry Crest Wins Going Away Against Freedom

While Strawberry Crest put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Freedom. The Chargers put the hurt on the Patriots with a sharp 18-0 win. This was payback for the Chargers, who suffered a 3-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

Destiny Bryant made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Lola Coole was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, four runs, and one double. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Jazlynn Jirau also deserves some recognition as she hit her first doubles of the season.

Strawberry Crest was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .633. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Freedom only posted a batting average of .077.

The victory made it two in a row for Strawberry Crest and bumps their season record up to 6-9. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.5 runs over those games. As for Freedom, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

Strawberry Crest didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 11-8 victory against Gaither on the 9th. As for Freedom, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 16-4 defeat against East Bay on the 10th.
