Softball Recap: West Noble Takes a Loss

West Noble had lost five straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 2-9 to make it six. They came up short against the Westview Warriors, falling 21-7. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Chargers of the 3-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for Westview, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-2. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 19, 2022, but that streak is no more.

For Westview's part, Janissa Lehman made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). Lehman was also stellar in the batter's box, going 5-for-6 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those five hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Westview got a massive performance out of Ava Gilbert, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one double. Gilbert has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Briana Kaufman, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

West Noble has already played their next matchup, a 15-1 loss against Churubusco on the 24th. As for Westview, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 12-0 defeat against Central Noble on the 23rd.
