The Wildcats walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Bowling Green Bobcats for which the team can thank VanderMierden, who had 11 digs and two aces. She has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more digs the last four times she's played.
Leopold never let Bowling Green on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-9, 25-22.
Leopold's win bumped their record up to 11-1-2. As for Bowling Green, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-8-1.
Coincidentally, Leopold and Bowling Green will both be playing New Haven the next time they take the court. The Wildcats will head out to face the Shamrocks at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Bobcats will play them later in the day, at 2:00 p.m.
