Maryland School for the Deaf moved up to 24 from 193 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Capital Area. The Orioles climbed the ranks as a result of beating Alabama School for the Deaf 42-0.
Avalon was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after besting Potomac School. The Black Knights came in at 11 in the state poll after placing at number 107 last week.
Riverdale Baptist's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Crusaders feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Nate Washington has thrown for 524 yards and seven touchdowns this season, while John Hightower has 11 catches for 188 yards. Justin Baynes leads the league in rushing with 719 yards.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Riverdale Baptist and Avalon. The Crusaders enters the game ranked 15th in the state, while the Black Knights ranks 11th.
Avalon made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,310 from 6,701. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 30-19 victory over the Panthers last week.
