Basketball Recap: Gordon-Rushville Comes Up Short

Gordon-Rushville lost against Morrill last Friday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Gordon-Rushville Mustangs took a 43-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Morrill Lions.

Despite the loss, Gordon-Rushville still got an impressive performance from Daniel Martins, who went 8 of 16 en route to 19 points and six rebounds. That was a full 59.4% of Gordon-Rushville's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Brody Popken was another key player, putting up six points and 13 boards.

Even though they lost, Gordon-Rushville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Morrill's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ryder Green, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 steals. Green is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed four or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Osiris Saucedo, who went 6 for 14 to rack up 18 points.

Gordon-Rushville's loss dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Morrill, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.

Gordon-Rushville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 59-39 win against Bayard on the 7th. As for Morrill, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 67-37 defeat against Bridgeport on the 7th.
