Baseball Recap: South Charleston's Luck Changes for the Better on Saturday

South Charleston can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over the Roane County Raiders.

Braxton Burke made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Burke was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of South Charleston's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 4-7 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Jackson Akers was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Brock Henson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

South Charleston's win bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Roane County, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Coincidentally, South Charleston and Roane County will both be playing Clay County the next time they take the field. The Raiders will host the Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Black Eagles will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
