Softball Recap: Kettle Run Find Success

While Kettle Run's win against Meridian wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cougars never let the Mustangs get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory on Thursday. Those one runs were actually the fewest the Cougars have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

The result came thanks to Aaliyah Alexander's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 12 Ks. Those 12 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Kettle Run saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Drew, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Kettle Run now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Meridian, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.

Looking ahead, Kettle Run will look to defend their home field on Friday against Fauquier at 6:00 p.m. As for Meridian, they are taking a road trip to challenge Alexandria City at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
