Game recap: Decorah-North Winneshiek High School Football Team bests Western Dubuque

DECORAH, Iowa - A big 20-point second quarter helped carry the Vikings to a 37-14 victory over Western Dubuque (Epworth, Iowa) on Saturday.

Decorah-North Winneshiek scored on a touchdown run by Jacob Kvale, a touchdown pass by Kvale to Holt Johansen and a Josey Jewell touchdown run in the quarter.

After taking the lead on a field goal by Joshua Lee in the first quarter, DNW led 23-0 at the half.

The Decorah school expanded its lead to 30 points entering the fourth quarter. The Vikings' lone score in the quarter came on a touchdown pass by Kvale to Michael Peter.

With the win Decorah-North Winneshiek extended its winning streak to nine games. DNW defeated the Huskies 63-0 last week.



The Vikings' most effective player was Kvale. The senior quarterback threw two touchdowns and ran for one touchdown.

Decorah-North Winneshiek came into the game allowing 7.0 points per game. The Bobcats came in allowing just 15.6 points per game this season.
