Recap: Parsons Vikings vs. Columbus Titans
There's no place like home for The Parsons Vikings, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They breezed by Columbus at home to the tune of 48-6. The result was nothing new for Parsons, who have now won five matches by 27 points or more so far this season.
Parsons had a senior duo take command as Jahmarion Washington rushed for 145 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.5 yards per carry and Tra Mack threw for 142 yards and four touchdowns while completing 92.3% of his passes. Washington is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last six games he's played. Makai Baugh got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Parsons' victory was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-9 Galena and 1-7 Labette County (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 21.9% over those games). As for Columbus, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.
Parsons will be playing in front of their home fans against Iola at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Columbus, they will head out on the road to face off against Burlington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Burlington knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully Columbus likes a good challenge.
