Basketball Recap: Dodge City Takes a Loss

Dodge City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They lost 57-31 to the Liberal Redskins. While losing is never fun, the Demons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 262nd, while the Redskins are ranked 108th).

It was another big night for Shamari Lewis, who went 8 of 12 en route to 21 points in addition to eight rebounds and six steals for Liberal. Lewis is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kylie Rhine, who posted 15 points along with six boards and three steals.

Dodge City's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Liberal, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.

Dodge City will challenge Alva at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Liberal, they will take on St. James Academy in a tournament on Thursday.
