Softball Recap: Clintonville Truckers vs. Freedom Irish
Clintonville extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 5-9 in the process. They came up short against the Freedom Irish, falling 10-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Irish this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-2 back in April.
As for Freedom, their win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games.
For Freedom's part, Kailey Stordeur was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Stordeur was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Carrington Klug and Jovie Smith did most of the damage at the plate: Klug went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Smith went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
