Preview: Blue River Valley Vikings vs. Cowan Blackhawks
Blue River Valley is 7-2 against Cowan since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Blue River Valley Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Cowan Blackhawks at 7:30 p.m. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Blue River Valley's 20-7 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a 59-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Blackford on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Cowan is still winless after their game against Shenandoah on Saturday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. Cowan fell just short of Shenandoah by a score of 54-51.
Despite their loss, Cowan saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Mason Kidd, who scored 15 points, was perhaps the best of all. The game was Kidd's third in a row with at least ten points. Griffin Smith was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Their wins bumped Blue River Valley to 1-3 and Blackford to 2-1.
Blue River Valley was able to grind out a solid win over Cowan in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, winning 57-44. The rematch might be a little tougher for Blue River Valley since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
