Softball Recap: Langham Creek Beats Cypress Ranch for Their 14th Straight Victory

Langham Creek had already won 13 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.4 runs) and they went ahead and made it 14 on Thursday. They skirted past the Cypress Ranch Mustangs 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lobos have posted against the Mustangs since April 26, 2022.

Karli Challburg made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over nine innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Mckenna Simmons was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Izabella Amato-Ramirez, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one double.

Langham Creek pushed their record up to 23-4 with the win, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.1 runs over those games. As for Cypress Ranch, with the defeat, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 18-8.

As of now, neither Langham Creek nor the Mustangs have any future games scheduled.
