Baseball Recap: William Tennent Takes a Loss

William Tennent had lost three straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 6-12 to make it four. They fell just short of the Springfield Township Spartans by a score of 2-1. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Panthers couldn't push the score so high this time.

Mike Woehr was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

As for Springfield Township, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games.

On Springfield Township's side, Nolan Kidwell tossed a big game, pitching six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.

On the hitting side, Springfield Township's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jon Matthews, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Spartans beat William Tennent by a score of 7-3 on Tuesday.
