Basketball Game Preview: Unioto Shermans vs. Sheridan Generals

Unioto is on a nine-game streak of home wins, while Sheridan is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Unioto Shermans will host the Sheridan Generals at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Unioto's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last nine games.

Unioto's tournament run continued when they took on Athens on Saturday. Everything went Unioto's way against Athens as Unioto made off with a 75-53 win. The Shermans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 matches by 22 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Sheridan posted their closest victory since December 16, 2023 on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Marietta 51-49. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Generals' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 68th, while the Tigers are ranked 13th).

Sheridan is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.9 points over those games. As for Unioto, their win bumped their record up to 19-4.

Unioto came out on top in a nail-biter against Sheridan in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, sneaking past 57-55. Does Unioto have another victory up their sleeve, or will Sheridan turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
