Softball Recap: East Union's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Four

East Union extended their winning streak to four on Saturday, bumping their season record up to 13-12 in the process. They were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over the Cosumnes Oaks Wolfpack. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-1 on Friday.

Lily Pickering made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs.

In other batting news, Savanna Lopez was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI. She also hit two doubles, marking her first of the season. Leah Altstadt was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

East Union always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

As for Cosumnes Oaks, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. Their loss continues a trend for the team, making it six in a row.

On Cosumnes Oaks' side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Fong, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

East Union has already played their next game, an 8-0 victory against Argonaut on the 26th. As for Cosumnes Oaks, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 9-1 win against Lincoln on the 26th.
