Basketball Recap: Darian Hershberger Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Lanesboro

Mabel-Canton posted their closest victory since January 26, 2024 on Monday. They skirted past the Lanesboro Burros 48-46. The Cougars' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mabel-Canton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Darian Hershberger, who posted 17 points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Larson, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards.

Mabel-Canton is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.5 points per game. As for Lanesboro, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-11.

Mabel-Canton will welcome Houston at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Houston will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Mabel-Canton surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lanesboro, they will head out on the road to take on Spring Grove at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
