DuBois Central Catholic will be up against a hot Marion Center squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. The Stingers were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over Indiana on Friday. Fans of the Stingers have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for DuBois Central Catholic, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Kane a 20-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Cardinals' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Rylee Kulbatsky made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances. Those two runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, DuBois Central Catholic got a massive performance out of Kylee Kulbatsky, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those two hits gave Kulbatsky a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maggie Mauthe, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
DuBois Central Catholic hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five strikeouts batters in three consecutive contests.
DuBois Central Catholic's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Marion Center, their record is now 4-0.
Marion Center might still be hurting after the 13-2 defeat they got from DuBois Central Catholic in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Stingers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
