Recap: North Platte Bulldogs vs. York Dukes
The North Platte Bulldogs struggled with threes on Saturday (the York Dukes had five more) and sadly the final score reflected it. North Platte took a 47-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of York. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for North Platte in their matchups with York: they've now lost three in a row.
North Platte's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ellie Blakely, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds. Macie Freeze was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds.
York's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kiersten Portwine led the charge by scoring 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Koch, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
North Platte now has a losing record at 5-6. As for York, the win got them back to even at 7-7.
North Platte will face off against Alliance at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Alliance is ranked 135th, while North Platte is ranked 123rd). As for York, they will head out on the road to face off against Northwest at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Northwest and York are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
