Volleyball Recap: Camden County Falls Despite Big Games from Grace Pratt and Millie Mayerlen

After a string of four wins, Camden County's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of the South Effingham Mustangs by a score of 3-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 back in August.

Camden County took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 25-21, 24-26, 26-24, 16-14.

Despite the defeat, Camden County had strong showings from Millie Mayerlen, who had 14 digs and three aces, and Grace Pratt, who had ten kills and five digs. Mayerlen is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last five games she's played.

Among those leading the charge was Lauren Olson, who had 22 digs and two assists. Those 22 digs gave her a new career-high.

Camden County's loss dropped their record down to 18-12. As for South Effingham, they are on a roll lately: they've won 25 of their last 27 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 34-10 record this season.

Camden County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Tift County on the 4th. As for South Effingham, they will square off against Greenbrier at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
