Irving is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Saturday. They came up short against Lake Highlands, falling 64-39.

Meanwhile, Pearce entered their tilt with Lake Highlands on Tuesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They managed a 41-36 victory over the Wildcats. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 296th, while the Wildcats are ranked 633rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Irving's loss dropped their record down to 5-16. As for Pearce, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-10 record this season.
