Baseball Recap: Pasco Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Pasco took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Hermiston, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Pasco narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Hermiston 7-6. The win was some much needed relief for Pasco as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.

Max Garcia made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. He has become a key player for Pasco: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one hit, but 1-11 otherwise. Garcia was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Pasco let Dakota Gillum and Caleb Szendre run wild. Gillum went 3-for-5 with one stolen base and one run, while Szendre went 4-for-5 with one run. Those four hits gave Szendre a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Casey Knudson, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two RBI.

Pasco always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Pasco's victory bumped their record up to 4-11. As for Hermiston, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-12.

Coming up, Pasco will look to defend their home field on Friday against Kamiakin at 4:00 p.m. The Braves' pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Hermiston, they are taking a road trip to challenge Southridge at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
