Recap: Garden Grove Argonauts vs. Katella Knights
The Garden Grove Argonauts's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a 59-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Katella. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Garden Grove lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Evan Juarez, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Juarez has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Drue Anzai, who scored 14 points.
Katella's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Joseph Damian led the charge by scoring 17 points along with five rebounds. Dillon Curtis was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Garden Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Katella, their win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Garden Grove will challenge Ocean View at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Ocean View is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 55.5 points per game. As for Katella, they will head out on the road to take on Godinez Fundamental at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Godinez Fundamental's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six matches.
