Baseball Game Preview: Duanesburg Eagles vs. Middleburgh Knights

Duanesburg is 7-1 against Middleburgh since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Eagles will be playing at home against the Knights at 4:30 p.m. Duanesburg is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.

Duanesburg came out on top against Berne-Knox-Westerlo on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run third inning. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Bulldogs. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Jacob Reese made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two RBI.

In other batting news, Evan Williams was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Logan Kapusta, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Meanwhile, Middleburgh didn't have quite enough to beat Canajoharie on Wednesday and fell 6-5. The loss continues a trend for the Knights in their meetings with the Cougars: they've now lost four in a row.

Middleburgh's defeat dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Duanesburg, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 9-5.

Everything went Duanesburg's way against Middleburgh in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Duanesburg made off with an 11-4 win. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
