Basketball Recap: Wauneta-Palisade Falls to Wallace in First Game of Season

Wauneta-Palisade unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a blow against the Wallace Wildcats on Thursday, falling 53-19. The Broncos have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Wauneta-Palisade got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Wyatt Hilbert and Nathan Hiett, who each put up five points. Hiett also led the team in rebounds with seven. Aaden Wheeler took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

Colt Franklin went supernova For Wallace., going 9-for-14 en route to 22 points and eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kyle Melton, who shot 71% from the field to rack up 11 points and three steals.

Wauneta-Palisade didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-29 defeat against Creek Valley on the 5th. As for Wallace, they have also already played their next matchup, a 45-39 loss against Maywood/Hayes Center on the 5th.
