Basketball Recap: William Monk and Da'qavis Greene Secure Win for Fike

While Fike didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victor by a 77-51 margin over the Beddingfield Bruins on Friday. The Demons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 21 points or more this season.

Fike was led to victory by Da'Qavis Greene and William Monk. Greene dropped a double-double on 18 points and 16 rebounds, while Monk went 10 of 18 on his way to 24 points and eight rebounds. Monk's evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamir Loftin, who posted six points in addition to seven boards and five assists.

Fike smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 15 offensive rebounds in seven consecutive matchups.

Fike pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Beddingfield, they moved to 3-5 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Fike and South Johnston will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on December 20th. As for Beddingfield, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Fike at 7:30 p.m. on December 27th.
