Softball Recap: Woodbridge Wins Going Away Against Freedom

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mountain View, Woodbridge was happy to have turned things around on Friday. Everything went their way against the Freedom Eagles as they made off with a 33-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won four games by 15 runs or more so far this season.

Jorja Gregory and Regan Senecal made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Gregory tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Senecal tossed 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Gregory has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. At bat, Gregory went 2-for-6 with four runs, two RBI, and one double, while Senecal went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two doubles. Those four runs gave Gregory a new career-high.

In other batting news, Woodbridge got a massive performance out of Mya Foster, who went 4-for-5 with five runs, six RBI, and one triple. Those five runs gave Foster a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bobbi Tate, who went 4-for-6 with six runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Woodbridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Freedom only posted an OBP of .235.

Woodbridge's record now sits at 4-8. As for Freedom, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Woodbridge will take on Colonial Forge at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Freedom, they will challenge Forest Park at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
