Saraland had won seven straight games and Taniyah Smith did her part to make it eight on Saturday. The Spartans came out on top against the Davidson Warriors by a score of 2-0 with plenty of help from Smith, who had eight assists and four aces. She has been hot, having posted two or more aces the last six times she's played.

Saraland easily took the second set, but they let things get interesting in the other. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-13.

Saraland's win bumped their record up to 13-2. As for Davidson, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-4.

Saraland wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against Bryant on the 13th. As for Davidson, they will challenge McGill-Toolen at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
