Basketball Game Preview: Coeur d'Alene Vikings vs. Lake City Timberwolves

The Coeur d'Alene Vikings will square off against the Lake City Timberwolves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Coeur d'Alene is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Idaho's top teams: Post Falls, who was ranked 17th at the time (Coeur d'Alene was ranked 12th). Coeur d'Alene fell to Post Falls 67-63. It was the first time this season that the Vikings let down their fans at home.

Meanwhile, Lake City waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They blew past the Bears, posting a 77-31 win. That looming 77-31 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Timberwolves yet this season.

Lake City's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.7 points per game. As for Coeur d'Alene, their defeat ended a 14-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-5.

Coeur d'Alene was able to grind out a solid win over Lake City when the teams last played back in February of 2024, winning 60-49. Will Coeur d'Alene repeat their success, or does Lake City have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
