The Providence Pioneers are taking a road trip to square off against the Bishop Montgomery Knights at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Providence will bounce into Thursday's match after beating Archer School for Girls, who they had gone 1-7 against in their eight prior meetings. The Pioneers were the clear victors by a 17-7 margin over the Panthers on Wednesday. Winning may never get old, but the Pioneers sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Madelynn Watts made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over 4.2 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with three runs and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Delailah Lopez and Gloria Galindo did most of the damage at the plate: Lopez went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base, while Galindo went 3-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Aaliyah Vitari also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.
Providence kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. They are 10-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Ramona Convent typically has all the answers at home, but last Tuesday Bishop Montgomery proved too difficult a challenge. They put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 13-2 victory. The win was familiar territory for the Knights, who have now won seven contests in a row.
Brooke Patterson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits.
On the hitting side, Ajeya Reddy was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Abigail Green, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Bishop Montgomery's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-5. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Providence, their record now sits at 12-4.
Both Providence and Bishop Montgomery just can't seem to miss. The Pioneers have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 12.6 hits per game. However, it's not like Bishop Montgomery struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4 hits.
