Basketball Recap: Wesleyan Takes a Loss

Wesleyan came up into this matchup off a tough 21-point defeat last Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Galloway Scots by a score of 61-58 on Friday. The Wolves have struggled against the Scots recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

When it comes to explaining why Wesleyan lost, don't look at Connor Morehouse. Despite the final result, he went 8 for 18 on his way to 21 points in addition to five boards and three steals. With that strong performance, Morehouse is now averaging an impressive 15.5 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Nketia-Gyasi, who posted 13 points and five boards.

Ryan Levin was his usual excellent self, going 9 of 19 on his way to 28 points, to go along with seven assists and five steals for Galloway. The match was Levin's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was JB Clark, who went 7 of 11 en route to 19 points and seven rebounds.

Wesleyan's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Galloway, their win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-3.

Wesleyan didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 51-34 defeat against Providence Christian Academy on the 7th. As for Galloway, they will challenge St. Francis at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Francis is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 72.9 points per game this season.
