Baseball Recap: Orange Park Takes a Loss

Orange Park lost against Middleburg back in February, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Raiders fell just short of the Broncos by a score of 3-1.

Corey Hopkins put in work no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Orange Park has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season. As for Middleburg, they moved to 10-14 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Coming up, Orange Park will be playing at home against Paxon School For Advanced Studies at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Raiders are facing the Golden Eagles at the right time seeing as the Golden Eagles are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Middleburg, they will venture away from home to face off against Stanton at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Broncos' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Blue Devils have averaged an impressive 8.9 runs per game this season.
