Baseball Recap: Gadsden Takes a Loss

Gadsden extended their losing streak to eight on Friday, dropping them down to 7-12. They came up short against the Centennial Hawks, falling 6-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-3 on Tuesday.

As for Centennial, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 18-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.

For Centennial's part, Trevor Alons tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. Alons has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Mateo Marquez and Chase Sanchez did most of the damage at the plate: Marquez went 1-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run, while Sanchez went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Centennial beat Gadsden by a score of 25-2 later that day.
