Softball Recap: Mater Bay Academy Takes a Loss

Mater Bay Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 20-5 to the Key West Conchs. That's two games in a row now that the Rays have lost by exactly 15 runs.

Amber Gutierrez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Jarilynn Romero was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Mater Bay Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Key West, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mater Bay Academy will head out to face off against Palmer Trinity at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Rays' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season. As for Key West, they will venture away from home to square off against American at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
