Baseball Game Preview: Coral Reef Barracudas vs. Schoolhouse Prep Wolfpack

The Coral Reef Barracudas will face off against the Schoolhouse Prep Wolfpack at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Coral Reef's hitters haven't had much luck over their past three matchups, but Thursday's contest will give them a chance to turn things around.

Coral Reef came into this matchup off a tough eight-run loss on Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Palmetto by a score of 2-0 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Barracudas have suffered against the Panthers since March 14, 2019.

Adrian Nunez was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Schoolhouse Prep's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They came up short against Dade Christian, falling 18-3.

Aaron Aguilar and Rogelio Perez stepped up to the plate in a big way. Aguilar went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, while Perez went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run. That home run marked the first that Aguilar launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nelson Perez, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run.

Even though they lost, Schoolhouse Prep lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Coral Reef's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Schoolhouse Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.
