Baseball Recap: Corner Canyon Wins Going Away Against Copper Hills

Corner Canyon won the last time they faced Copper Hills and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Chargers put the hurt on the Grizzlies with a sharp 7-1 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Chargers.

Jacob Troast spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up nine Ks. Those nine strikeouts set a new season-high mark for him.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Nathan Horstmann, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Corner Canyon is undefeated when Horstmann posts one or more home runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Drew Whatcott, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Corner Canyon's record now sits at 7-4. As for Copper Hills, they dropped their record down to 2-9 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Corner Canyon will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Grizzlies: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
