Volleyball Recap: Parkway Central Colts vs. Westminster Christian Wildcats
Parkway Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Westminster Christian Wildcats. The Colts were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wildcats earlier this season, when they won 2-1.
Parkway Central was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Westminster Christian work for it, especially in the first set. The final score came out to 26-24, 25-21, 23-25, 25-13.
Maddie Schaefer paced Parkway Central's offense, picking up 16 kills. Schaefer got some help from Taylor Jesse and her 26 assists. Tessa Wall controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.
Westminster Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rachel Buchanan, who had 27 digs, two blocks, and two aces. Those 27 digs gave Buchanan a new career-high. Vivian Sharlow was another key player, getting 22 assists and three aces.
Parkway Central's loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Westminster Christian, they pushed their record up to 19-5-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.
