Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Escalon

Escalon won the last time they faced Hughson and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Escalon Cougars took down the Hughson Huskies 57-39. The Cougars pushed the score to 48-26 by the end of the third, a deficit the Huskies cut but never quite recovered from.

Hughson lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kyle Young, who posted nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Gehrke, who had eight points and three steals.

The victory (which was Escalon's third in a row) raised their record to 12-7. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points per game. As for Hughson, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-10.

Escalon will challenge Ripon Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Ripon Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight matchups. As for Hughson, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 78-49 loss against Sonora on the 17th.
