The Everett Seagulls will head out on the road to face off against the Shorecrest Scots at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Everett will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
On Monday, Everett needed a bit of extra time to put away Cascade. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Bruins. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Mac Larsen was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. Jack Franklin was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Meanwhile, while Shorecrest put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Marysville-Pilchuck. The Scots put the hurt on the Tomahawks with a sharp 10-0 win. Considering the Scots have won three games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Kaden Hamshaw was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Brooks Murray was a standout: he scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Gabe King, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-1.
Shorecrest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Everett's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Shorecrest, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-3.
Everett skirted past Shorecrest 2-1 in their previous matchup back in April of 2018. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Seagulls since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
