Baseball Recap: Panguitch Snaps 15-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Panguitch dropped to 11-3 on Wednesday, ending the team's 15-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They fell 5-1 to the Piute Thunderbirds. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Bobcats couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Piute, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games.

For Piute's part, Brodee Montague spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 14 Ks. Montague also tossed no walks, which is notable because the Thunderbirds are undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 4-5 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Piute let Bodie Gayler and Pendleton Bowler run wild. Gayler went 1-for-3 with one home run, while Bowler went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs.

Panguitch is taking a road trip to face off against Tintic at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Bobcats will need to watch out since the Miners have now posted at least ten runs in their last four games. As for Piute, they will challenge Wayne at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Badgers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.82 runs per game on average), something the Thunderbirds will no doubt try to take advantage of.
