Baseball Recap: Santa Ynez Has No Trouble Against Bishop Diego

While Santa Ynez put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Bishop Diego. The Santa Ynez Pirates put the hurt on the Bishop Diego Cardinals with a sharp 18-0 victory. With that win, the Pirates brought their scoring average up to 7 runs per game.

Tate Minus made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Hayden Blunt was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run and five RBI. Jaxon Glover was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

Santa Ynez always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .579. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bishop Diego only posted an OBP of .118.

The victory got Santa Ynez back to even at 2-2.

Coincidentally, Santa Ynez and Bishop Diego will both be playing Nordhoff the next time they take the field. Santa Ynez will head out to face Nordhoff at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Bishop Diego will host them at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.
