Basketball Game Preview: Walhalla Razorbacks vs. Powdersville Patriots

Walhalla has won eight straight games at home, while Powdersville has won eight straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Saturday. The Walhalla Razorbacks will host the Powdersville Patriots at 6:00 p.m. One thing working in Walhalla's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven games.

Last Wednesday, Walhalla didn't have too much trouble with Southside Christian as they won 57-42. Given the Razorbacks' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while the Sabres are ranked 106th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, it's playoff time, and Powdersville had no trouble coming through when it counted. They blew past Woodruff 48-28 on Wednesday. The Patriots have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Powdersville's win came from a few key players Walhalla will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Makayla Assemian, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in steals (eight). Caroline Sweet was another key player, going 6-for-12 to rack up 16 points and three steals.

Walhalla's win bumped their record up to 24-3. As for Powdersville, their victory bumped their record up to 20-7.
