Basketball Recap: Cameron Herzek and Christopher Stoddart Secure Win for Mitchell

There's no place like home for Mitchell, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 73-52 margin over the Land O' Lakes Gators on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Mustangs have posted since January 11th.

Leading Mitchell to victory were Christopher Stoddart and Cameron Herzek. Stoddart went 6 for 9 on his way to 15 points, while Herzek posted 15 points. Stoddart's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Eli Wilson was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Mitchell smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 15 consecutive contests.

Despite the defeat, Land O' Lakes had strong showings from Jacoby Davis, who put up 12 points and six boards, and Chartric Darby, who had 11 points. The dominant performance also gave Darby a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Jadyn Murria, who scored two points and four steals.

Mitchell pushed their record up to 13-11 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.6 points per game. As for Land O' Lakes, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-14.

Mitchell wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, an 82-58 win against River Ridge on the 31st. Land O' Lakes has also already played their next game, a 61-49 loss against Cypress Creek on the 31st.
