Baseball Recap: Skyridge Takes Down Ranked Lehi

Skyridge faced Lehi in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Falcons put the hurt on the Pioneers with a sharp 11-5 victory. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.

Kason Muhlestein made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Muhlestein was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs. Skyridge is undefeated when Muhlestein posts two or more runs, but 8-9 otherwise.

In other batting news, Boston Sundberg was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Andres Pearson, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Skyridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .450. They are 9-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win snapped Skyridge's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 13-9 record. As for Lehi, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 12-11.

Skyridge will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Pioneers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
