Football Recap: Life Waxahachie Takes a Loss

Something's probably wrong if your team accumulates more yards in penalties than offense, a fact Life Waxahachie just learned the hard way. They were outmatched by the Godley Wildcats and fell 48-7. The defeat continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Wildcats: they've now lost five in a row.

Godley got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Adam Pempsell out in front who rushed for 186 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 7.8 yards per carry, and also caught one TD. Those 186 rushing yards gave Pempsell a new career-high. Ryder Papasan also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.

Life Waxahachie's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Godley, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Coming up, Life Waxahachie will be playing in front of their home fans against Wills Point at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs will be up against the Tigers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 38.75 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Godley, they will head out on the road to face off against Mineral Wells at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
