Volleyball Recap: Spring Lake Park Wins High-Profile Match Against Elk River

Spring Lake Park faced Elk River in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Panthers came out on top against the Elks by a score of 3-1. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Panthers also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

While Spring Lake Park might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Elk River scored at least 20 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 26-24, 23-25, 25-22.

Spring Lake Park was led to victory by Hector Ly and Atticus Molitor. Ly had 23 assists and 13 digs, while Molitor had 23 digs, 17 kills, and four aces. Those 23 digs gave Molitor a new career-high.

They weren't the only good server: Spring Lake Park was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 16 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

Despite the defeat, Elk River saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jackson Price had 12 digs and two aces.

Spring Lake Park is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. As for Elk River, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-8.

Coincidentally, Spring Lake Park and Elk River will both be playing Champlin Park the next time they take the court. The Panthers will host the Rebels at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Elks will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
